Moving Day: DIY or Using a Pro?

For many of us one of the most stressful things that we do in our lives is moving home. When moving, you have two options open to you in order to move your possessions to your new home. Firstly, you can move all of your possessions yourself, and secondly, you can hire a professional removal company to do the job for you.

There are good and bad points that you can say about both options, so what option is going to be best for you if you have an upcoming relocation in the near future?

The Benefits of a Professional Removal Company

One of the best ways to relieve some of the stress that you may incur during the average move is to use the services of a removal company. There are many nationwide removal companies to choose from, and these professionals can have the entire contents of your home packed up in no time at all.

You will not have to lift a finger when it comes to packing everything up as they will work through each room of your house, packing everything safely and securely. When they have finished packing everything up and loading it onto the truck, they then deliver your possessions to your new home and start the process in reverse.

As you do not need to exert yourself, you can be assured that you are not going to strain a muscle or hurt yourself lifting something heavy. You will be able to tell the removalists which room each box and piece of furniture should go to, which will help you to relax and have the time to turn your house into a home.

You will also have the benefit of being fully insured, just in case anything accidentally get damaged or lost. For the service that you receive when you use the services of a professional removal company, the price is great value for money. Their services also help you save a lot of time and effort on your part if you did it yourself.

The Benefits of Moving Home Yourself

If you have the luxury of not being in a great rush to move or have a lot of free time on your hands, then moving home may be a good option for you. With the purchase and hire of everything that you will need, the cost will still be cheaper that if you used a removal company.

  • Boxes
  • Packing Material
  • Tape
  • Pens
  • Vehicle Hire

When you have all of the materials that you need, you can start to pack up everything that you are not going to need in advance of moving day. By doing this, you will have less to do on the day of the move, which is a great idea as you may need to conserve energy.

You will need to make sure that you rent a vehicle which is big enough for all of your possessions, and if you can do everything in one go it could save you both money and time. The further distance you move, the greater the cost will be, and for the bigger vehicles you may need a special license to drive them. If you do not have this, then you will also need to hire a driver.

One thing you do need to take into account when you work out the true cost, is the total amount of hours it is going to take to complete the move. Although you may be doing this yourself to save money, with the amount of hours it will take if you need to take time off work it may be even costlier than a removal company.

In all honesty, using a professional removal company is far better all around as it is just so much easier. Of course, it does depend on how much stuff you have to move!
