How to Choose a Perfect Wallpaper for Your Drawing Room

If you have a drawing room that is dull and drab, you know how difficult it can be to focus on your work. You need a muse, you need inspiration and you need must be able to focus on your everyday tasks. This is especially true if you draw for a living. For artists, paint simply doesn’t work as inspiration. It is a flat, one tone color that does not bring life into the room. This is why it is important to choose inspirational wallpaper that suits your purpose and your skill. The most successful method of increasing your potential is to use designer fabric as wallpaper for your studio or art room.

Choose a Material

Wallpaper comes in many shapes and sizes. It also comes in many different materials. You can purchase a clear coated wall paper that is composed of paper, or you can choose designer fabrics to use as wall paper that comes with many more options than traditional wallpaper. Whichever one you choose, you must ensure that it inspires you to create wondrous works of art. We personally recommend that you choose a designer fabric that reflects your personal style.

Choosing a Design

As someone who focuses on art, you know you do not want wallpaper that is reminiscent of your grandmother’s bathroom. You want a modern style that has appeal, inspiration and suits your style of art. Choosing your wallpaper carefully will ensure that you are able to create works of art that sell for the price you want. Designer fabric is not only usable as a wallpaper, but it is also more inspirational than simple flowered designs on your wall.

The Psychology behind Your Wallpaper

There is a lot of psychology that goes into creating art, and wallpaper can affect this psychology. If you are going to use a wallpaper, you must find one that brings out the mindset that you are ready to develop an amazing piece of art quickly and perfectly.

Choosing a Designer Fabric to Use as Wallpaper

There is a lot of thought that goes into choosing wallpaper. Choosing a designer fabric that is thick, durable and has a high thread count will ensure that you are able to use it as wallpaper rather than use it as a fabric to sew with.

How to Hang Your Designer Fabric

What you need:

  • Durable cotton fabric
  • Liquid starch
  • Tacks
  • Drop cloth
  • Paint roller
  • Paint tray
  • Roller cover
  • Utility knife
  • Step ladder
  • Scissors

Pour the liquid starch into the paint pan.

Measure the first piece of fabric to fit on the wall, starting in a corner.

Use the pain roller to apply the liquid starch to the wall.

Starting at the bottom line the edge of the fabric up with the base board.

Smooth the paper onto the wall using your hand. Work your way up the wall slowly so that you can ensure that there are no wrinkles in the fabric and that it is hung straight.

Continue with the next piece of fabric until the room is finished.

Choosing Your Pattern

When you are choosing your pattern, make sure that you choose one that speaks to your artistic style. You should make sure that it adds to your art work and does not distract you from what you are doing on a daily basis.

The advantage to using a starch glue material is that if you get tired of the old pattern, you can easily remove it by using a damp roller to wet and remove it. You can then easily wash the starch product off of the wall with warm soapy water and a wash rag.
